Teresa & Jakes

We have two versions. One for those who don’t like to read, proudly summarised by Jakes, and an elaborate version for those who do.

The summary: A long term friendship that evolved into something beautiful.

The TED-Talk version: It all started in a humble little town called Krugersdorp. We connected over our shared love of movies (especially musicals), deep conversations, and snacks! (think Pavlov’s Dog). One night, in our friendship-era, we watched ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ and stayed up until 5am, chatting (because we, i.e. me, love to yap). Fast forward 7 years, and countless movies later, we have discovered that there is a Brown, Jones, Smith, and Zimmerman in every movie credit roll we’ve watched. Thankfully, we’re not basic, and our surname will be Jansen. Take that Hollywood!

Fast forward another 5 years, and Jakes proposed at the live performance of the ‘Phantom of the Opera’ at the Dubai Opera. Cute, hey? 

After a 2 year long engagement, being foster-parents to 11 shelter cats, and numerous eventful Side Quest Sundays, we can’t wait to celebrate love with you.
